Vlad Petri is a film-maker, independent producer and photographer born in 1979 in Bistrita, Romania and based in Bucharest. After graduating from the University of Film and Theatre "I.L. Caragiale" with a BA in Cinematography and Television (2005), he started working as a freelance director, cinematographer and photographer on various projects filmed on locations such as Afghanistan, Syria, Jordan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Albania. He taught photography for four years, as part of an interactive workshop open to the general public (starting from 2007). Most of his recent projects revolve around documentary film-making, with a special interest on social issues, politics and activism, and have been developed in Romania and the Middle East. In 2008, he co-directed the documentary "New Year's Eve" (2008). He is currently enrolled in the Visual and Media Anthropology Master program at Freie Universitaet in Berlin, Germany (starting from 2012).
