Dr. Oksana Sarkisova is a Junior Research Fellow at the Open Society Archive of the Central European University. She is also Program Director of the annual Verzio International Documentary Human Rights Film Festival in Budapest since 2004. Oksana Sarkisova received her PhD in history from the Central European University, Budapest. Her fields of research are cultural history, memory and representation, film history and visual studies. She co-edited with Péter Apor “Past for the Eyes: East European Representations of Communism in Cinema and Museums after 1989” (2008) and has published extensively on Soviet cultural history and film, the film industry and contemporary Russian and Eastern European cinema. She has taught courses on documentary cinema and human rights with Renata Uitz at CEU, on film history and film studies at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) and at Williams College (USA), as well as having run an interdisciplinary workshop on teaching visual studies at Moscow State University.
