At its 4th edition, KineDok will showcase this year 16 of the most interesting documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe that will be screened in numerous unconventional venues in Romania.

KineDok is a unique program in Europe, being held simultaneously in 7 partner countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Norway, Bulgaria and Romania, where it is coordinated by One World Romania Association, in close partnership with the Documentary and Human Rights Festival. Each partner country contributes with the latest documentaries produced in their countries which are then screened in hundreds of venues all over the 7 territories, generating an impressive local cultural community.

The project is remarkable by its original approach: the screenings are organized as a film club, in alternative venues accessible to the audience, during the whole year. Because documentaries rarely reach cinemas, which are becoming fewer and fewer every day, a huge part of KineDok's mission is going in different cities, coming closer to people and using the community spirit of local pubs, galleries and other popular meeting places. These locations offer an alternative place for the meeting between documentaries and their audience, creating a warm atmosphere where watching a film becomes a community experience. The audience has the opportunity to be actively involved in discussions with directors, protagonists and other local guests, and to remain connected to the Romanian reality and different cultural, social and political events around the world.

Between 2015 and 2017 we managed to organize 695 KineDok screenings in 50 alternative places from 30 cities in Romania, developing communities of cinephiles interested in documentary film, all over the country. KineDok has become a strong platform for alternative documentary film distribution, completing the classical distribution, bringing documentaries closer with the public.

We launch the 4th KineDok season with the Czech film ”Nothing Like Before”. The screening will take place in the presence of film directors Lukáš Kokeš and Klára Tasovská. We are pleased to welcome you on Thursday, March 22 at 20:30 at ARCUB.
