synopsis

Queercore was born in reaction to the bourgeois fossilization of gay culture. After the liberating experimental culture of the 70s - with its Stonewall, its glam rock, and its sexual revolution - the 80s brought the scare of HIV and the obsession of respectability. Without being formally radical itself, this easy to follow film traces in time, with detachment and perspective, the queercore movement from its origins in the bedrooms of Bruce LaBruce and G. B. Jones to its dispersion into a global underground that questioned both the macho punk scene and the bourgeois gay mainstream.
