synopsis

Rarely has a fight for justice been carried out with the determination displayed by Kenzo Okuzaki in this legendary documentary. An activist and World War Two veteran, he wishes to bring to light the truth about the atrocities perpetrated by the Japanese soldiers during the conflict in order to prove that emperor Hirohito bears the main responsibility for all the misfortunes suffered by the Japanese people then after. Accompanied by the relatives of a soldier who died immediately after the war, killed by his fellow soldiers to be eaten by them, Okuzaki visits the perpetrators in order to try and extract a confession that would appease the soul of the defunct. However, he faces a wide spread phenomenon in the post-war Japanese society: the absolute refusal to talk about the past. Nobody denies the occurrence, but they cannot speak the truth either. This makes Okuzaki angry and gives him the legitimacy, in his opinion, to resort to acts of physical violence.
