Warm-up OWR #17: Pure Unknown screening, March 9th at Peasant Museum Cinema
1 March 2024
A person who dies without a name is like a story without an ending. This is also the case for those whom Dr. Cristina Cattaneo calls "Pure Unknown": the dead from the fringes of society who land night after night in her autopsy room.

You can discover their story next Saturday, on March 9, from 18:15 at the Peasant Museum Cinema, at the second warm-up in preparation for One World Romania 17. The screening of Valentina Cicogna and Mattia Colombo's documentary Pure Unknown (Sconosciuti puri) will be held in the presence of both directors, who will also answer questions from the audience during a Q&A session.

The screening is part of the program of the third edition of Visuali Italiane - New Italian Cinema in Romania, which runs March 4–10 in Bucharest.

Early bird passes for One World Romania 17 can be purchased at a discount price only by March 5 via Eventbook.

Every night nameless bodies land in Dr. Cristina Cattaneo’s autopsy room. She calls them Pure Unknown. They are homeless, prostitutes, runaway teenagers. Lately, they have mostly been migrants, rejected by the Mediterranean Sea onto the shores of Italy.  If all rights belong to the living, nothing is left to the dead. So what happens when the dead have lost their identity? In the face of this growing multitude, no one seems concerned about their right to dignity. No one but Cristina.
