The Pomelo neighbourhood of Hanoi, Vietnam is in the process of being demolished and entirely replaced with a brand new ring road. As a result, all inhabitants of the old neighbourhood and its surroundings are forced to find alternative solutions to rebuild their plans and daily routines, which is generating a brand new flow of groups coming and going, making friends or dispersing. The most important group is that of the workers come from rural provinces, trying to settle down in this chaos created by cranes, in the hopes of finding a much sought after job. Although a difficult and tense environment both for the evicted and for the workers, filmmakers Swann Dubus and Thảo Trần Phương are able to capture many funny moments, where the lightheartedness of the characters prompts an instant connection with the ever changing community of Pomelo, while the more somber side of the story develops subtly, in small details, lacking in expositions or pathos-laden conclusions.
