Immigrants and refugees who came from China to Greece over 30 years ago decide to help new refugees reaching the same shores today. This simple narrative skeleton, however, fails to convey the human complexity this film teems with. Suzanne, a Chinese businesswoman with a probably checkered and thus intentionally vague past in neighboring Bulgaria decides to wash away her sins in Greece, where she takes on cajoling, organizing, and otherwise wrangling other Chinese business owners, who are entirely unfamiliar with social and humanitarian issues, to support Syrian refugees in Lesbos, Piraeus, and Athens. A surprising comedy on a grave and urgent topic.
