Gay men from all over the world gather once a year on a cruise ship that for one week floats away with them beyond the daily grind and beyond constant discrimination or prejudice they otherwise experience. Isolated on the water, in a continuous party atmosphere, filmed in delicious, fleshy detail and sometimes in spectacular grand scenes reminiscent of old-time musicals, the passengers open up to the camera. The cruise ship becomes an arc of humanity, bearing the strife we all carry within ourselves: the fear of loneliness, the terror of death, the need for family, the aspiration for true love, and especially the desire for freedom, which is too often repressed.
