In 1990, a young Georgian photographer falls in love with a French journalist who comes through Tbilisi on her way to neighboring Chechnya, where war had just broken out for the second time in a decade. What follows is a very personal story about what war means not only to journalists but for all of us who feel sheltered in peace, as well as for everyone in the Caucasus, for artists in general, and for relationships and families. A film about the universal horrors and the absurd fascination of war, constructed with emotional honesty, real curiosity, much sadness, but never cynicism, this is a coming of age story and an argument for peace at the same time.
