Wars bring along not just tragedies, but also comedies. Case in point: the artificial border strung overnight between Ossetia and Georgia in the aftermath of the 2008 war suddenly divided the villagers of Churvaleti into two different countries. Those crossing the barbed wire fence risk being arrested and fined, which makes families stretching on both sides of the fence resort to inventive tricks to see each other, to do their shopping or go to the doctor, or even to find a spouse for themselves. Patiently and with a keen eye for the fragility of human experience, this documentary centers on two childhood friends, Malchaz and Gocha, who will not let a simple piece of metal wire divide them.
