On the Polish-Belarusian border, the wheels have to be replaced under the train carriages entering the territory of the former USSR, where the gauge is 89 mms wider. A classic Lozinski about two worlds meeting and yet being constantly separated, which brought the film-maker a nomination for an Academy Award.
