Rekha, a 14 year old homeless and third month pregnant girl, can not marry the father of the baby because she comes from a lower caste. Renu, a newly married 15 year old, is left by her husband and threatens to commit suicide. Both girls seek refuge in the center established by Sample Pal.Sampat was married as a young girl into a family which beat her often. But unusually, she fought back, leaving her in-laws and eventually becoming famous as a champion for beleaguered women throughout Uttar Pradesh. She now seeks to mediate similar conflicts and to work for these young women, but the solution is not too kindly viewed by everyone involved.
