In cinema, the most memorable encounters are never accidental. In the same vein, Ignacio Ceroi’s meeting with a mysterious Frenchman seems to be a matter of providence: buying a camera out of the desire to film all breathing life around him, the director uncovers the traces of a fabulous life, one which is the stuff of fiction, packed in the memory card of handycam. Ceroi plunges into Charles’ story bag and baggage entering the daily life animated by the Frenchman’s friends and dogs, reliving with him his greatest loves and disappointments, to then follow him in Cameroon in an unexpected adventure on another continent amidst other burning passions. Before disappearing forever, Charles opens the safe deposit box of his own existence, in a simultaneously captivating and paradoxical epistolary dialogue, which Ceroi examines at every step, thus weaving around him a diary full of turmoil and doubts, inevitable hesitations, and questions without answers. Whoever we are – whether a director or a spectator – we are all astonished by the enigmas which can connect two people, regardless of silence and distance. (Andreea Chiper)
