For a period of 13 years, 30,000 Ecuadorians coming from five indigenous tribes are being part of a huge environmental trial against one of the strongest American oil companies, Chevron, former Texaco. The destruction and pollution of Amazonian forests with toxic waste caused death and severe disease amongst natives. Despite the obvious effects of contamination (leukemia, cancer or skin disease), environment protection specialists or lawyers hired by Chevron keep on affirming otherwise. The ‘Amazonian Chernobyl’ case is analyzed from every point of view, starting with the perspectives of the American company and of the natives, continuing with the role played by the media, and ending with the opinions of celebrities, humanitarian organizations and even of the Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa.
