Stella, a 49 year old Romanian woman, lives along with her husband in a Paris ghetto and begs on the subway stairs. Stella wanted to save her husband and managed to do so by bringing him to France to have his surgery, however she’s been struggling for years to get the necessary paperwork done in order to be able to work there legally. Compelled to live in an improvised place that became her home and to only get to see the few people she meets everyday in the ghetto or at the subway, Stella lives in a desperate isolation that is not a singular case among immigrants. The only moments when she can get in touch with the buzz of the streets and interact with the French are the visits to the dentist, where she tries to repair her teeth alongside with her lost dignity.
