Seven very different western women travelers meet aboard the Trans-Siberian Express. Their travelling companionship is going to be put to the test when being kidnaped by a Mongol horsewomen tribe led by the charismatic Princess Ulun. If you have seen ”Taiga: A Journey To Northern Mongolia” (a more than eight hours long giant documentary film we warmly recommend), you cannot help recognizing the nomadic Mongolian community rituals and ways of living within this fantastic tale.

In this fiction staged within this Mongol reality, Ulrike Ottinger questions, in a very fluid and free way, the encounter between people, worlds, cultures, genders as well as between fiction and documentary. It is Delphine Seyrig’s last screen role (she died of cancer in 1990): Lady Windemere, an extremely elegant and free ethnographer, a wonderful character the French actress could joyfully impregnate with all her feminism.
