Delphine Seyrig and Carole Roussopoulos are two essential figures in the history of feminism and, in addition, of feminist cinema, of camera-on-the-shoulder-militantism. The actress and the director of photography meet around the mid-1970s, on the territory of female emancipation, and from this meeting will emerge a friendship and a collaboration which will shake up the Parisian cultural status quo of that era, exposing the hypocrisy and the political discourse corrupted by prejudice. Calisto McNulty’s film blends homage with a historical overview of feminism in the 1970s, shedding light on their involvement in the ongoing fight against misogyny, social injustice due to sexual discrimination, and abusive patriarchalism. Delphine and Carole were the duo that found itself in the right place, at the right time, and made use of the weapons of their era - video technology, television, cinema - to talk loud and clear about female identity and the issues that women go through in the context of modern society.
