Caroline Capelle and Ombline Ley spent some time in La Pépinière, an institution for young people with disabilities located in Northern France. But, instead of making just another film with underlying good intentions about the tremendous work that is being done at this institution on a social and human level, the directors invite us to set sail and embark on a journey with all the characters in this lyrical film: not only have they created a cinematic space for these teenagers, but, through the editing, they’ve also created one for us within which we are all free to evolve. We follow their daily lives through the fields and the forest where they carry out tasks to the extent their physical abilities allow them, at the swimming pool where they engage with their bodies and relax, or during their musical sessions which some of them enjoy more than anything. We become empathetic witnesses to their experimentation with the world around them, probing it with an appetite that is contagious. Every person, every edited scene in the film becomes a brush of paint in a colourful and very lively picture they all are creating together, with us. (Vanina Vignal)
