Marc Isaacs Masterclass - Provocations and Interventions: How To Deal With The Limitations of The Real
One World Romania concludes its four-day focus on the films of Marc Isaacs by inviting audiences to further explore their understanding of his cinema - whose clarity of form, genuine encounters, modest perspectives belie a complex process of construction and intervention.
Hosted by Marc Isaacs, the "Provocations and Interventions: How To Deal With The Limitations of The Real" masterclass will take place on Sunday, April 13th at 13h30 at Cinema Elvire Popesco.
“For me, filmmaking is a provocation. When I think about ideas for films, I need to feel that they contain the possibility of -not simply documenting the real - but creating a new kind of filmic reality. In this Masterclass, I will talk through the process of conceiving and developing ideas and what I do to try to make the reality in front of my eyes come alive in the most vivid, mischievous and interesting way possible. Each step of the way, I need to feel that I’m not being complacent or predictable which is why my films often rely on intervention.” - Marc Isaacs
