Last year, we launched the pilot program Emerging Voices, dedicated to new voices in documentary film who have not yet made their first feature. The program was extended through a series of autumn projects organized by the association, with some of the selected artists also invited to other events and activities.
We continue this year! Despite this edition marked by austerity, we want to do as much as possible to support documentary filmmakers.
The program takes place during the One World Romania Festival and is also open to students and recent graduates who have directed at least one short or hybrid documentary film addressing human rights.
For us, both the submitted shorts and their filmmakers’ vision matter – we look for filmmakers who are curious about the world around them and willing to contribute to the communities they belong to.
Selected filmmakers will benefit from a special screening, followed by extended dialogues with invited guests, including professionals from the film industry and civil society representatives, as well as networking events (meetings, cocktails etc.) – and they will be the first to learn about year-round opportunities as part of the community.
We hope that the project will spark the interest and generate the effervescence we aim for, and foster the creation of an extended, long-term support network.
